Lemon Balm Tincture

Lemon Balm is my favourite herb. Always abundant in my community garden, she springs up between cracks in the concrete, in everyone’s vegetable beds from March onwards. Whenever I feel anxious or overwhelmed I know I can just wander down and put my face straight into a lemon balm plant and instantly feel calm, at peace and uplifted.

I made this tincture towards the end of Summer when I realised those fresh-scented retreats would not be available over the Winter. I carry this tincture everywhere, adding it to tea and water whenever I feel like I need that comforting lemon balm moment, with a tiny side helping of sage to clear away any bad vibes, and lavender for extra zen encouragement.  Alongside Calm Juice this is my absolute go-to for anxiety support.

Full details & directions below. Not recommended if pregnant or breastfeeding.

Ingredients:  Gin, Brandy, Rum (all 40% abv), Lemon Balm, Lavender, Sage, Amythest.

A classic case of “use what you have”, the base of this is a blend of gin, brandy and rum infused for 6 weeks with Lemon Balm harvested from my herb garden, with a small amount of sage and lavender.

Lemon Balm is a known nervine, supporting frazzled nerves during time of stress and burn out. Restoring calm and lifting the spirits. Sage clears away negative energy, while lavender offers peace and a chance to rest and regroup.

Use: Add 5 – 10 drops to your herbal tea or a small glass of water in in the mornings before work, throughout a busy day or before bed to help calm you to sleep. In general a great little side-kick during times of stress and overwhelm.

Avoid Lemon Balm if you are have a thyroid condition, or if you are on perscription medication for mental health conditions. Lemon Balm is not recommended if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. These drops can cause drowsiness so do not use before operating driving things.

Always do a bit of your own research or talk to an expert before using for medical purposes.

Important Note: Dark Times Apothecary offerings are small tokens to help you feel like you have some control, or power in these times where lets be honest – none of us feel like we do. They are intented to help you feel less lost, less alone – more grounded and focussed in your own life, time, situation. These are not intented to replace actual healthcare (I am not currently a trained professional), they are intented to be coping mechanisms to help you get through the day. Also they smell nice.

About Us: All Dark Times Apothecary products are made in very small batches from herbs grown, foraged or carefully selected by me, Dianne Tanner. My knowledge comes from extensive learning and research, or was handed down to me through my family and upbringing in rural New Zealand (via ancestors in England and Scotland). I follow a loose Pagan-Witch path, learning with the seasons and finding things that help me cope with the ever-increasingly difficult times we live in. These are the offerings I am sharing here with you, in the hope that they give you some tools to cope as well. If you have any questions, please get in touch.

Packaging & Shipping: Shipping is available Worldwide. Please note Dark Times is not responsible for any additional charges added at customs.
